WHEW!

Wow! Eric and I have had a whirlwind of events the past two weeks. We entered New Years Eve excited for 2009 and the opportunity to tell all our friends about our exciting addition to the Kato household. Instead, we went in for our First Trimester Screening on New Years Eve and were told by the Doctor that we needed to go immediately for a CVS screening that the Baby had something wrong with it and that it could have Trisomy 13, 18 or 21. One of which the baby dies either at birth or within a year.

Needless to say we didn't announce our good news right away. We went for our CVS screening on January 5th and received the final results on Jan 13th. The baby was determined to have all normal chromosones so no Trisomy 13, 18 or 21. Though there could be something still wrong with the baby we won't know more until WK18 after our Full Anatomy Screening.

While we are thrilled with this news, we both are still anxious and nervous. Hopefully our fears will be calmed a bit more after wk18 but most likely not until the baby is born :)

Though I haven't been experiencing many symptoms, I was extremely tired the first trimester and I seem to have spouts where I cannot stop eatting. No consistent cravings yet but I tend to at times want random things like powered donuts, ice cream, cottage cheese and grapefruit.

The baby is due July 10th, 2009, which was earlier than we anticipated so I'll have 5 more classes to complete for the MBA program. In the meantime the baby will be learning about Marketing, Statistics and Entrepreneurship this semester!

I hope to keep up this blog throughout the pregnancy, so stay tuned for more!
